I Don’t Want to Be Just Another Face in the Crowd

Illustration: Stand OutRecently I’ve received a comment regarding my free report that I offer on this blog. It went something along the lines of “I don’t want to be just another affiliate”. That’s a great attitude to have, and I keep stressing the importance of the unique value proposition on every other post I write on this blog. But does that mean that what I write in my e-book is different than what I write here?

To answer the question, first you have to answer the question what being unique means and what you have to do to stand out of the crowd. Being unique means being different than others, doing more than others, cutting through the noise and making your message be heard. But how do you do that? Are there any methods or techniques to do that?

If there were, wouldn’t those following them end up doing the same thing and thus not be unique? Application of a technique or method beats uniqueness by definition.

It’s something that you must come up with by yourself, but it doesn’t mean that you have to re-invent the wheel. You have to take a process, the same that everyone else is doing and add your own twist to it. That’s how you become unique. You do something different than others and cut through the noise.

But nobody can teach you or show you how to do it. If you keep looking for a unique way to do things in the teachings of others, you will only find how others are unique and the only way that gets you closer to the goal is by telling you what is already done.

However, the fact that others are doing the same thing doesn’t render it useless. On the contrary, it proves that it works (otherwise why would anyone do it?). To make it better, you just add your unique touch to it. And it’s not a hard thing to do. Everyone of us is unique and we can add our own touch to anything we do. It happens automatically, you don’t even have to try hard. You can’t do something exactly like someone else is doing – you will make mistakes and make improvements in the process. You will notice things that others don’t, and you will come up with your own unique ways how to make it work better for you.

Don’t be afraid to do the same thing that others are doing, thinking that you’d be just another copycat. At first you will be, that’s the part when you’re learning. Then you will start adding your own insight from your own experience, and that’s when things really get rolling.

But if you do nothing, nothing happens.

  1. Having a mentor is a good thing where you can mimic them until you have learnt the ropes.

As I research the internet daily for getting together the right niche market or finding the right product to sell it occurs to me that I am constantly procrastinating from doing anything as there is always the excuse that it has all been done before.. It can immobilise you and in the words of Ken Evoy from SiteBuildIt you can forever just do the following ready aim, ready aim ready aim……….

I think the long and short of it is that you need to feel sufficiently comfortable with yourself to develop that special uniqueness.
