How to Make Money Online

Illustration: To Do List

So you want to make money online. There are many ways to do it ranging from little jobs to running an online business and everything in between. In this mini course I will show you how to make money online by creating websites because that’s how I do it myself, as evident by this very site. Now, if you don’t know the first thing about creating and running websites, don’t panic, it’s not rocket science, far from it. In fact, it’s so easy to create a website (I will show you how) that everyone can do it. And everyone is doing it. The key, however, as you will see is not in the creation itself but in making something different, something that works (I will show you how to do that too).

Why build websites? Because it’s the only way possible to create passive income for yourself. A website, once created and established, can generate income without you having to touch it ever again. I have websites that I’ve build 5 years ago and haven’t touched them since and they’re still making me money. I’m not trying to imply that there’s no work involved, you have to put in the work required to create and establish a website but once that is done, it’s on autopilot.

Before we begin, I’d like to set your expectations. I’ve noticed that not all people have the same expectations when they look for how to make money online and that affects their success with one are another method. So before you continue reading, I think it will be right to tell you who this mini-course is for and for who it is not.

This mini-course is for you if…

  • You’re not afraid to do some work
  • You want to make substantial money online and not just a few bucks
  • You’re not afraid to build a website
  • You have some spare hours a day to dedicate to make money online

However, this mini-course is NOT for you if…

  • Don’t want to do any work whatsoever
  • Just want quick money without doing any real work or putting any effort
  • Online business and making consistent money from the Internet intimidates you
  • You simply don’t have the time.

If you fall into the latter category, I’m sorry but I can’t help you. Perhaps you can find some paid surveys to fill or get a few pennies for reading emails, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But this mini-course is geared towards people who are not afraid to do some work and reap the benefits.

If you fall into the first category, let’s dive into it…

Step 1

Register with a web hosting provider that will host your websites. I recommend HostGator because that’s what I use for all of my sites (use coupon code GIMME25OFF for a 25% discount), it’s cheap, reliable and easy to use. (Disclaimer: I’d be getting a commission from HostGator should you register through this link and I’m recommending it only because I use it myself.)

You will also need a domain name which you can get by registering with HostGator too. For best results, read the rest of the steps before registering, though, and that will give you an idea of what domain name you should come up with. Or if you already have an idea of what your first site is going to be, you can register it right away.

Step 2

Install WordPress on your new hosting account. It’s very easy to do. You will get the details on how to access your CPanel once your hosting account registration is complete. In Cpanel you can find the QuickInstall icon, then choose WordPress and follow the steps. Once you do that you will have yourself a website.

Yup, it’s that easy. Long gone are the days when you had to spend days programming your website in HTML and PHP. Now you just have to click a few mouse buttons and voila!

That’s the easy part, of course, but the fun just begins…

Step 3

This step is a lot more detailed as this is how you will make your website profitable. And there are many ways to do it, so I’ve broken it down into several options. Read them all and choose one which you feel most comfortable with.

Most people choose blogging as the way to make money online, after all WordPress was made for blogging (though you can use it literally for any kind of site). Perhaps it’s the easiest option on the list so if you’re unsure you can go with that.

Here are the options I have currently covered (I’ll add more in the future):

Every method you see here is personally tested by me and is based on my experience – they’re not just theory, so if you implement them properly, you can expect to make money. Read them and apply any or all of them. Enjoy!
