Blogging for Cash: Tips for the Beginners

Blogging is the most popular term for all the online business doers. People are crazily blogging about everything they can think off. Blogging can be divided into two types based on general usage. One is for personal use called personal blogging and other is for business called business blogging. Leave the personal blogging aside, let’s come to the blogging for business.

Blogging has become a main source of income for many people lately. That’s the main reason people are blogging crazily. Many have even quit their 9-5 jobs and have become a full time professional blogger. The main benefit is that they can work from their sweet home, no boss to pull your ear, work on your own time whenever you feel like. If you are inspired of people making decent money online from blog then you should too start one.

Most people gets success in blogging when they blog about their interest or passionate about something. Blogging on topics that doesn’t interest you will only make hard for you to update often and less interaction with your visitors. Let’s assume that you have decided on the topic and set-up a blog if not then I suggest you to create one on the WordPress platform, it’s one the best CMS (Content Management Solution) platform for blogging. Many bloggers love to use this platform.

Once you set up a blog, you can update with fresh content daily. You can opt for 1 article daily or 3 articles per week. Choose whichever suits you and stick to it so that your visitors can know when they can expect new articles. I suggest you write also some informative articles and submit them to the top article directories. This will create more back links to your blog, higher page rank and more targeted visitors to your blog. Continue these processes day by day until you start receiving more than 100 unique visitors daily. There are also other methods like guest posting, social media marketing and search engine optimization that are good for building traffic for your blog.

Once you start receiving high traffic, it’s time to make money online from blogging. To make money, you’ll have to monetize the blog. One of the most popular monetization is Google AdSense. Others are Infolinks, affiliate marketing, advertising, providing service.

  1. CPC/CPM – Google AdSense is a pay per click (CPC) program from Google. You’ve to put a special code on your blog. Once you have added the code, AdSense will start to show advertisements relevant to your content. When someone clicks on the advertisement, you will earn some commission. Let’s assume 1 click pays you $.20. If 100 people click daily then $.20 x 100 = $20. So monthly earning of $600. You’ll need to bring lots of targeted visitors in order to earn such amount. Above 1000 will work well. Infolinks is also a CPC program like Google Adsense. They pay less then AdSense but are good because they blend very well with the keywords.
  2. Affiliate Marketing – Affiliate marketing is a very good way of making extra money on the Internet. There are lots of products that you can sell for some commission. If you are blogging about “how to lose weight” then you can recommend your loyal visitors some “weight loss” products. If they purchase then you’ll be paid a commission. Commission is generally between 30% – 75%. The higher sale you make, the more money you’ll make.
  3. Advertising – There are lots of advertiser willing to advertise their product in your blog. They may purchase review article, link placement, banner placement in your blog. You can set the price for each and earn handsome money each month.
  4. Provide Service – If you are good at something like WordPress setup, link building, SEO, etc. Offer these services to your visitors for some fixed price. They might avail your service when they see your expertise in it.

  2. Some good advice when it comes to blogging, but as you know it would be good to do all the research before starting to do all this even in you own passionate interest,. Sometimes article marketing will not always guarantee you traffic.

  3. I have heard all of this stuff before and what it basically means is that you can make money from your blog if you are willing to spend the time it takes promoting it, which pretty much amounts to more than a full-time job. At least with a job, you get paid even if it seems like you aren’t doing much real work. And you need to be an authority on your subject matter or you will run out of ideas for articles and advertising. You will also find that setting up your actual blog is really the smallest part of your time investment, because blog posts are typically short, unlike articles, which have a minimum requirement of 350 to 500 words on most article sites.

Google Adsense no longer works for most bloggers, even though there was a time when it actually worked fairly well. As I’m sure most of you are aware, Google continues to change all of its policies, including how Adsense works, or in this case, how it doesn’t work.

Affiliate marketing can work, IF you can find a real product that does what it is advertised to do AND if you can promote it properly. I have found that most vendors don’t know how to market their own products, so if you use their email ads, text ads and banners, you will get very little positive results, if any at all.

What it all boils down to is that if you want to make money from your blog(s), you have to be a decent writer for the blog, a very good writer for the articles to promote it, an excellent ad writer and a very social person who enjoys spending hours in forums just to get to know the people in it so that you can eventually start putting your links up to get clicks. If you are weak in any of these areas, you won’t make any money at all.

As someone else stated, you need a real business plan to make money online. It isn’t as easy as just creating a blog and posting to it regularly.
